Stefan Ruzowitzky in Talks to Direct Baldwin, Wilson in CAUGHT STEALING

Oscar-winner Stefan Ruzowitzky (THE COUNTERFEITERS, DEADFALL) is in late negotiations to direct Alec Baldwin and Patrick Wilson in CAUGHT STEALING, Myriad Pictures announced today. The film, based on the first novel of Charlie Huston's The Henry Thompson Triology, was scripted by David Hayter.

Patrick Wilson will portray Hank Thompson, described as a former "hotshot High School baseball prospect, turned unlucky alcoholic, going-nowhere bartender who mistakenly gets caught up in a bloody treasure hunt through New York City. It turns out that the cat Hank's neighbor left in his care is sitting on a secret. Hidden at the bottom of its cage is a key wanted by a sadistic cop (Baldwin), Russian mobsters, a Samoan hit man, and a pair of psycho brothers who dress in leather gear."

Paula Wagner is executive producing with Myriad's Kirk D'Amico. Said D'Amico, "Caught Stealing is, first and foremost, a great script. It is a wrong-man plot worthy of Hitchcock, and a brilliant adaption of the first book of the Henry Thompson trilogy. I look forward to seeing the story come to life on screen."

On stage, Wilson has appeared in Broadway's All My Sons, Barefoot in the Park, Something Good, Oklahoma!, Dreamgirls, The Full Monty and The Gershwins' Fascinating Rhythm. Off-Broadway he has taken the stage in Tenderloin, Bright Lights, Big City, and toured with the national cast of Carousel. Wilson has also appeared in a Minnesota production of Romeo and Juliet, as well as a New York production of Finian's Rinbow, a regional show Lucky in the Rain, and many more.

Alec Baldwin last appeared on stage in the 2010 Guild Hall (East Hampton) production of Peter Shaffer's Equus, directed by Tony Walton. Other stage includes the Roundabout Theatre Company's 2006 production of Joe Orton's Entertaining Mr. Sloane, directed by Scott Ellis, Loot (Broadway-1986; Theatre World Award), Caryl Churchill's Serious Money (Broadway-1988), Prelude to a Kiss (Circle Rep.- 1990; Obie Award), A Street Car Named Desire (Broadway-1992; Tony nomination), Macbeth (NYSF-1998), The Twentieth Century (Roundabout-2004). He has also performed at The Hartman in Stamford; Williamstown and at Bay Street.
