STAGE TUBE: Mirvish Celebrates 50 Years of Toronto Theatre

On Tuesday morning members of the press and the Toronto theatre community gathered at the historic Royal Alexandra Theatre to join David Mirvish in celebrating fifty years of the Mirvish family producing theatre in Toronto. The theatre was packed with people eager to hear what new shows were being added on to the previously announced 50th Anniversary Season, but also excited to celebrate the extensive contributions Mirvish have made to the city of Toronto and to our theatre community.
Hosted by Dan Chameroy, the event announced seven additional shows being added to the landmark season, making it their largest ever. Bonus shows which were announced included touring productions of American Idiot, Rain, We Will Rock You and Chicago (with Canadian figure skater and Olympic medalist Elvis Stojko in the role of Billy Flynn, a Toronto Fringe favourite in The Musical of Musicals: The Musical, an Edinburgh Fringe pick in The Two Worlds of Charlie F and an installment from the Henson Company with Puppet Up! Uncensored.
