A standout from Something Rotten! is trying out a new musical!

Michael James Scott, a notable breakout star in the new Broadway Shakespeare-themed musical comedy SOMETHING ROTTEN!, utilized social media to share a sneak peek of a brand new musical titled PROM MUSICAL he is currently participating in along with a starry creative team.

James used Facebook to offer viewers a look inside the lab for PROM MUSICAL earlier today, writing from New 42nd Street Studios, "First Day of School #‎Craziness for a new Lab of a new Musical !!!! #‎PromMusical #‎PromMusicalCraziness".

Details are scarce on PROM MUSICAL, but the creative team of the project according to a recent casting call for "Untitled Prom Musical" includes multiple Tony winners including SOMETHING ROTTEN! and ALADDIN director Casey Nicholaw as director and choreographer, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE's Bob Martin as bookwriter along with ALADDIN's Chad Beguelin on book and lyrics, with a score by THE WEDDING SINGER's Matthew Sklar.

Of course, Scott stars in SOMETHING ROTTEN! eight times a week, directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, as well. The pair previously teamed on THE BOOK OF MORMON and ALADDIN, among others.

Michael James Scott has appeared on Broadway in ALADDIN, THE BOOK OF MORMON, ELF: THE MUSICAL, HAIR, THE PIRATE QUEEN, TARZAN, MAMMA MIA!, ALL SHOOK UP and JERSEY BOYS in addition to many notable regional and West End productions including AIDA, HAIR and more.

Casey Nicholaw appeared as a performer in the Broadway productions of THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, SEUSSICAL: THE MUSICAL, VICTOR/VICTORIA, CRAZY FOR YOU and more in addition to directing and/or choreographing THE BOOK OF MORMON, SOMETHING ROTTEN!, ELF: THE MUSICAL, MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT, ALL ABOUT ME and THE DROWSY CHAPERONE.

Matthew Sklar wrote the scores for the musicals ELF: THE MUSICAL, THE RHYTHM CLUB and THE WEDDING SINGER in addition to providing dance arrangements the the US tour of SHREK as well as conducting several Broadway productions including CAROLINE, OR CHANGE, NINE, OKLAHOMA!, 42ND ST., PUTTING IT TOGETHER and many more.

Chad Beguelin provided book and/or lyrics for the Broadway productions of ALADDIN, ELF: THE MUSICAL, ON THE RECORD, THE WEDDING SINGER, THE RHYTHM CLUB and more.
