The Orpheum Theatre announces its 2014-2015 Family Series. This incredible season consists of five highly entertaining and energetic family-friendly productions.

"Our Family Series blends hands-on activities with live theatre to create a memorable experience for the entire family" said Alice Roberts, Vice President of Community and Education. "This year, we've planned a season that will take families on incredible imaginary adventures through engaging music, dance and storytelling."

Tickets to the 2014-2014 Family Series are on sale now and available for purchase online at the official Orpheum Theatre website, www.orpheum-memphis.com, The Orpheum Box Office (901.525.3000), the ticket counter at The Booksellers at Laurelwood, and all Ticketmaster centers (901.743.ARTS). Individual tickets are $15 per person or $25 for VIP tickets. Special group rates will also be available by contacting Group Sales at 901.529.4226.

Families are invited to attend pre-show lobby activities at each production, provided by Children's Museum of Memphis and other community partners. Students and families will be rocking out at the Orpheum as Childsplay brings the hit 1970s and '80s cartoon series "Schoolhouse Rock" to life. Academic subjects will never seem boring again when presented through megahits like "Conjunction Junction," "Just a Bill," "Interplanet Janet" or "Three is a Magic Number." Schoolhouse Rock explodes onto the stage with updated songs and multi-media effects for a whole new generation! Recommended for all ages.

Making its Orpheum debut, internationally acclaimed Fist and Heel Performance Group presents Moses(es), a stunning exploration into our relationship with leadership and the effects of migration on beliefs and customs. Grounded in Zora Neale Hurston's novel and Reggie Wilson's travels to Israel, Egypt, Turkey and Mali, the work looks at diasporic movement out of Africa. The energetic fusion of modern and African dance is perfectly married to music by Louis Armstrong, The Klezmatics, Ngqoko Women's Ensemble, MaZarhar, Bi Kidude, Southern Sons, and The Blind Boys of Alabama. The show reflects on how we lead and why we follow in a beautiful, enthralling way. Recommended for all ages.

DREAM CARVER

Dream Carver, a bilingual musical, proves that imagination can be a compelling force of change. Mateo is a boy growing up in Oaxaca, Mexico whose father taught him to carve small wooden toys in the traditional way. One night, Mateo dreams of fantastic, brightly colored animals that dance and sing, led by a charismatic quetzal (an iridescent bird). When he wakes, he begins carving his dream animals into life. The show features a variety of colorful handcrafted puppets and a cast of Broadway-trained puppeteers. Through Mateo's experience, the audience will be encouraged to think creatively, try new things, and embrace individuality. Recommended for ages 6+.

RHYTHMIC CIRCUS : FEET DON'T FAIL ME NOW!

There's tap dancing and then there's Rhythmic Circus, the percussive-dance phenomenon that electrifies audiences with its hard-hitting, rapid-fire tap, sidesplitting humor and finger-snapping tunes; performed on everything from sand to folding chairs. Feet Don't Fail Me Now! explodes with Heatbox the human beatbox, joined by the swingin' seven-piece funk band and vocalists to accompany each tap, shu?e, and stomp. The show presents a wildly creative view into the indomitable power of the human spirit. Guaranteed to be unforgettable, this joyous parade of genre-hopping music and percussive dance will have audiences amazed and dancing to the beat! Recommended for all ages.

SPOT

Spot, the most famous and beloved dog in children's literature comes to Memphis! Follow Spot to his father's farm, where all the animals have gone missing. Spot and his friend Helen are going to need the audience's help to find the animals and bring them back to the farm. Spot's show-stopping tunes and incredible puppetry will enchant viewers and highlight the importance of working together to solve problems. Recommended for ages 3+.
