The Weinstein Company is lining up its PASSENGERS.

According to Deadline, Rachel McAdams is now in talks to join Keanu Reeves in the space film, which went to Weinstein after an intense bidding war at Cannes. At the time, Reese Witherspoon was attached to star, but has since left the film due to scheduling conflicts.

PASSENGERS, penned by PROMETHEUS' Jon Spaihts, is billed as: "A spacecraft transporting thousands of people to a distant colony planet has a malfunction in one of its sleep chambers. As a result, a single passenger (Reeves) is awakened 90 years before anyone else. Faced with the prospect of growing old and dying alone, he eventually decides to wake up a second passenger (McAdams), marking the beginning of what becomes a unique love story."

McAdams is best known for her role in Nicholas Sparks' THE NOTEBOOK, starring opposite Ryan Gosling. She has also starred in such films as MEAN GIRLS, WEDDING CRASHERS, THE FAMILY STONE, SHERLOCK HOLMES, MIDNIGHT IN PARIS, and THE VOW.
