Plan-B Theatre Presents The World Premiere of WALLACE 3/4

By:

Salt Lake City's Plan-B Theatre continues its 2009/10 season with the world premiere of Wallace, by Utah playwrights Jennifer Nii and Debora Threedy.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Wallace Stegner (portrayed by Richard Scharine) is the dean of Western writers. Wallace Thurman (portrayed by Carleton Bluford) was a young, gay black man at the heart of the Harlem Renaissance. Both called Salt Lake City home. Their lives intertwine in WALLACE, a rumination on the power of place and the meaning of home. WALLACE is comprised of two intertwined solo plays: FIRE! by Jenifer Nii (based on the writings of Wallace Thurman, commissioned by Plan-B Theatre) and WHERE I COME FROM by Debora Threedy (based on the writings of Wallace Stegner, commissioned by the Wallace Stegner Center for Land, Resources and the Environment).

WALLACE is part of The Edward Lewis Black Theatre Festival. Related events include the Ken Sanders/Trent Call visual art show UCONOCLASTS, People Productions' free reading of THE TALENTED TENTH, Theatre Arts Conservatory production of SHAKESITEMENT: TIRED OF BEING BARD, free film screenings of BROTHER TO BROTHER and WALLACE STEGNER,  Script-In-Hand Series, and the Stegner Symposium.

More information on the play, as well as the related events listed above, can be found athttp://planbtheatre.org/wallace.

Wallace is directed by Jerry Rapier, with sound and costume design by Cheryl Ann Cluff and Phillip R. Lowe, respectively. Wallace includes a set design by Randy Rasmussen and lighting design by Cory Thorell. Wallace is stage managed by Jennifer Freed.

Wallace opens March 4th at the Studio Theatre at Rose Wagner, located at 138 West 300 South. The show runs through the 14th, with performances on Thursday-Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 4pm and 8pm, and Sunday at 2pm. No late seating. Running time is 70 minutes without intermission. General admission tickets are $20 and $10 for students. For more information call 801-355-ARTS or visit http://planbtheatre.org.
