MCC THEATER (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; Blake West, Executive Director) presented another all-star line-up for the company's annual gala, Miscast 2009.

Miscast 2009 was held on Monday, March 9, 2009 at The Hammerstein Ballroom (311 West 34th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues). As in years past, Miscast 2009 will brought together the best and brightest Broadway talent as they performed songs from roles in which they would never be cast. Kathleen Turner, currently starring in MCC's production of The Third Story, served as the evening's Honorary Chair. All proceeds went directly to MCC's production, play development, education and outreach programs.

This year's event honored legendary producer Elizabeth I. McCann for her commitment to producing new work and reaching new audiences both on and Off Broadway. As a producer, she has won 8 Tony Awards for: The Goat, Copenhagen, A View from the Bridge, Dracula, The Elephant Man, The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, Morning's at Seven and Amadeus. She is currently represented on Broadway by the upcoming Hair and recently produced the revival of Equus starring Daniel Radcliffe.

The roster of performers for this one-of-a-kind theatrical evening included Daniel Breaker, Norbert Leo Butz, Raul Esparza, Beth Leavel, Kelli O'Hara, Robin de Jesus and Aaron Tveit, among many more.

MCC's current production of Charles Bush's The Third Story, directed by Carl Andress, runs through March 15, 2009 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Individual tickets to The Third Story are available through TicketCentral.com or by calling 212-279-4200.

MCC will also be represented on Broadway this spring with their acclaimed production of reasons to be pretty by Neil LaBute, and directed by Terry Kinney.

MCC Theater is one of New York City's leading theater companies, committed to presenting New York and world premieres each season. When MCC Theater was founded in 1986, its mission was simple: to bring new theatrical voices to theater-going audiences. MCC Theater continues to accomplish this yearly through presentation of its mainstage works; its Literary Program, which actively seeks and develops new and emerging writers and its Education & Outreach Program, allowing more than 1,200 students yearly to experience theater, increase literacy and discover their own voices in the arts. Notable MCC Theater highlights include: their 2008 production of Neil LaBute's reasons to be pretty, the 2004 Tony-winning production of Bryony Lavery's Frozen; Neil LaBute's Fat Pig; Rebecca Gilman's The Glory of Living; Marsha Norman's Trudy Blue; Margaret Edson's Pulitzer Prize-winning Wit; Tim Blake Nelson's The Grey Zone and Alan Bowne's Beirut. Over the years, the dedication to the work of new and emerging artists has earned MCC Theater a variety of awards.
