Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus' global smash hit musical Mamma Mia! opened at Moscow's MDM Theatre in Russia, Saturday, October 14th, 2006, marking the first time ABBA songs will be performed in Russian and the show's 6th foreign language production (joining 2 in Germany, Hamburg and Stuttgart; Madrid; Osaka and Stockholm).

There are currently 11 productions (9 resident productions and 2 tours) of Mamma Mia! running around the world, more than any other current Broadway musical. The show has earned a worldwide gross of over $1.6 billion and played to audiences of more than 27 million people. 

The Moscow cast stars Elena Charkviani as Donna Sheridan, Natalia Bystrova as Sophie Sheridan, Natalia Koretskaya as Tanya, Elena Kazarinova as Rosie, Andrey Kozhan as Sky, Oleg Taisayev as Harry Bright, Vlaidimir Khalturin as Bill Austin and Andrey Klyuev as Sam Carmichael.
