At the center of this classic American drama by Tennessee Williams, Big Daddy, Brick, and Maggie the Cat are part of a southern family in crisis who must, in the course of one night, confront years of lying, deceit, and burying the truth. Williams followed A Streetcar Named Desire and The Glass Menagerie with this story of generations to secure his place as one of the great American playwrights. This Pulitzer Prize winning Drama is directed by guest artist Robert Barry Fleming and starring local favorite Enrique Bravo as Brick with guest artists Herbert Siguenza as Big Daddy and Elizabeth M. Kelly as Maggie the Cat.

Robert Barry Fleming (Director) was recently represented Off-Broadway as an Associate Producer for the NYC revival of TENNESSEE WILLIAMS' THE TWO-CHARACTER PLAY starring Amanda Plummer and Brad Dourif. With a wealth of varied performing, producing, directing and coaching experiences on and off-Broadway and at leading resident theatre venues including The Public, Arena Stage, The Taper, The Folger, The Guthrie, La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe and The Alabama Shakespeare Festival, RBF is ecstatic to have the opportunity to helm this production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at Perseverance Theatre.

The cast is a solid blend of local and national talent, Artistic Company Lead Enrique Bravo (Seminar and Treasure Island) returns to the Perseverance Mainstage to play Brick. Actor and screenwriter Elizabeth M. Kelly from Los Angeles plays Maggie; Skagway actress Meredith H. Schmidt plays Mae; local actress and choreographer Ricci Adan plays Big Mama; Los Angeles actor Herbert Siguenza (a founding member of Culture Clash) plays Big Daddy; Juneau local Jeff Hedges plays Reverend Tooker; New York based actor Victor Cuenca plays Gooper; veteran Perseverance actor Benjamin Brown plays Doctor Baugh; and Alex Pierce plays Lacey/Sookey. The children are played by Callahan Jon Croteau, Selma Jesse Houck, and Dorothy Kuterbach.

Artistic Director Art Rotch designs the lights and Akiko Nishijima Rotch designs the set. Erin Shultz from New York City designs costumes; Juneau favorite Rory Stitt designs the sound; and Olivia Tymon returns for the second time this season to stage manage.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof was written in 1939. The play made its Broadway debut at the Morosco Theater on March 24, 1955. The production was directed by Elia Kazan and starred Barbara Bel Geddes as Maggie and Ben Gazzara as Brick. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof received the Pulitzer Prize in 1955 for drama.

Performances of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, with a 2 p.m. matinee on the last Sunday (March 30).
