PETER AND THE STARCATCHER (a comedy with music), opens October 21 and runs until November 12 at the Belrose Theater in San Rafael.  PETER AND THE STARCATCHER is family friendly and will delight adults and children alike.

The 2012 Tony award winner upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up (a.k.a. Peter Pan). A wildly theatrical adaptation of Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson's best-selling novels, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER uses ingenious stagecraft and the limitless possibilities of imagination to bring the story to life. From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER playfully explores the depths of greed and despair... and the bonds of friendship, duty and love.

A young orphan and his mates are shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captain's cabin, which contains a precious, otherworldly cargo. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly, a Starcatcher-in-training who realizes that the trunk's precious cargo is starstuff, a celestial substance so powerful that it must never fall into the wrong hands. When the ship is taken over by pirates - led by the fearsome Black Stache, a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own - the journey quickly becomes a thrilling adventure.

PETER AND THE STARCATCHER features a cast of eleven actors playing over one hundred characters. Leading the cast are Nick Gallagher as Boy, Hannah Bloom as Molly Aster and Sumita Narendran as Black Stache. The ensemble as includes Mark Clark, Nick Coelius, Simon Eves, Fiorella Garcia, John Griffin, Leffie Martin, Nick Moore, and Mayou Roffe. The PETER creative team is led by producer Gary Gonser and director Patrick Nims with costumes and properties by Marina Nims, lighting design by Harrison Moye, sound design by Rick Banghart, and hair and make-up design by Gillian Eichenberger.

"PETER AND THE STARCATCHER leaps off the stage and into your imagination from the opening moments", said director Nims. "When you have Philip Glass jokes, Donald Trump jokes and fart jokes all in one show, you know it is something special. At the same stroke however, PETER is timeless as it reveals just why Peter never wants to grow up and what is gained and lost in the bargain."

Performances are on Friday and Saturdays at 8pm and matinees most Saturdays at 2pm. Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.marinonstage.org or at the door. Ticket prices are $20 for General, $18 for Seniors, $15 for Students. PETER AND THE STARCATCHER is family friendly and will delight adults and children alike.
