The Hindustan Times is reporting that after sweeping the Academy awards, Slumdog Millionaire producer Christian Colson is ensuring that the children featured in the film are not left to fight life's battles on their own.

The word is producers are planning a stage musical of the eight-Oscar-winning film to raise funds for Mumbai's slum kids. No details on where or when the production would begin, or who would be on the creative team.

Slumdog Millionaire is the story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life.

With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India¹s "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?"

Slumdog Millionaire won 8 Academy Awards including Best Picture.
