New York Premiere of BREWED to Brawl at FringeNYC
The New York premiere of BREWED, a spine tingling examination of ritual and family loyalty, by Scott T. Barsotti (Goodman Theatre's Playwrights Unit, Chicago Dramatists) will be presented at the New York International Fringe Festival, Sunday, August 21st through Saturday, August 27th.
BREWED tells the story of six sisters (and one stranger). Six sisters who must never stop stirring a pot. Six sisters who take care of each other, are deeply loyal to each other, and at the same time, as playwright Scott Barsotti puts it, do not "settle disputes by arguing. They do it with their fists and their knees. They head butt and arm bar. They ground and pound." The words they call to each other " You and me, sister" reverberate through their isolated world, linking them, binding them, and, ever so slowly, causing tiny fissures, pushing their way toward the surface.
BREWED is directed by Jessi D. Hill (terraNOVA, The Acting Co.) and features Vivia Font (Rattlestick, Oregon Shakespeare Festival), Rachael Jenison (Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, The Goodman), Alexis McGuinness (Yale Rep, GEVA), Danielle O'Farrell (Chicago Shakespeare Theatre), Deb Radloff (Classic Stage Company), Stephanie Roetzel (The Old Globe), and Aubrey Saverino (San Diego Rep, The Old Globe).
Design team includes Dan Loveridge, Miles Polaski (Drama Desk Nomination: Fulfillment at The Flea), Grace Trimble, Claire Warden, and Deidre Works.
"BREWED has brawled in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Boston, and New Orleans, and now, I'm so happy to bring it to The New York International Fringe Festival. You and me, NYC." - Scott Barsotti
BREWED will play at VENUE #14: The Steve & Marie Sgouros Theatre (115 MacDougal Street)
