NBC Holds Open Casting Call for Von Trapp Children in THE SOUND OF MUSIC Today

There will be an open call for casting of the Von Trapp children for NBC's upcoming live production of "The Sound of Music" today, September 15. The audition will take place 10am-3pm at Grace Church School (86 4th Ave. New York, NY 10003 ). Audition information is as follows:

Girls: ages 6-13. Must be excellent singers and actresses -LOUISA (13 y.o.), BRIGITTA (9 y.o.), MARTA (7 y.o.), GRETL (6 y.o.)

Boys: ages 10-14. Must be excellent singers and actors- FRIEDRICH (14 y.o.), KURT (10 y.o.)

Please come prepared to sing a short traditional musical theatre song acapella that shows off your voice. We are asking all those auditioning to also have sheet music on hand for that song in the event that you are asked to sing along with accompaniment. Please bring snacks and beverages as you may be asked to stay for a few hours.

"The Sound of Music" will be presented as a live three-hour broadcast and will air on December 5 on NBC. Five-time Grammy winner Carrie Underwood will star in the coveted role of Maria Von Trapp. Acclaimed British actor Stephen Moyer, best known to U.S. audiences for his role as Bill Compton in HBO's "True Blood, will portray decorated World War I hero Capt. Georg Von Trapp.

From Universal Television, "The Sound of Music" is executive produced by Neil Meron and Craig Zadan. Beth McCarthy-Miller and Rob Ashford will serve as directors. The live holiday production will be based on the original 1959 Broadway production of "The Sound of Music," which starred Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel. The play won the Tony Award as best musical and Martin won as best actress.
