Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, and Fontainebleau Miami Beach to Introduce Limited Editions Featuring Artwork by Tracey Emin

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), North Miami, and Fontainebleau Miami Beach have commissioned British artist Tracey Emin to create new limited-edition works to commemorate Emin's first U.S. museum exhibition. Tracey Emin: Angel Without You will premiere at MOCA, North Miami on Dec. 4, 2013 as part of its Knight Exhibition Series and be on view through March 9, 2014. The items, which include a limited-edition beach towel, flip-flop sandals and T-shirt, will be available for purchase at the MOCA Shop and at Fontainebleau Miami Beach during Art Basel Miami Beach week in December. The products will also be available online at www.mocanomi.org and www.fontainebleaushop.com.

The luxurious artist edition double-size beach towel is 100 percent velour cotton and measures 39 x 68 inches. The towel includes an image of Emin's neon work Kiss me Kiss me Cover my Body in Love (2010). The unisex rubber flip-flops feature Emin's neon work I Kiss You (2004) on the bottom of the sole, which leaves an imprint of the image on the sand. The V-neck T-shirt also features the work Kiss me Kiss me Cover my Body in Love (2010). The towel will retail for $95; flip-flops $40; and T-shirt $50.

In addition, to commemorate the collaboration, Fontainebleau Miami Beach has acquired a piece by Emin for installation at the iconic resort. The neon work I Followed You to The Sun, (2013), will be unveiled at the hotel during a special event with Emin during Art Basel Miami Beach.

The flip-flops and towels to be sold during Art Basel Miami Beach continue Emin's longstanding practice of creating limited edition works, which would be accessible to the general public, beginning with The Shop (1993), which she set up with fellow artist Sarah Lucas to sell smaller objects and paraphernalia by both artists, including T-shirts and badges. Tracey Emin: Angel Without You
Knight Exhibition Series

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), North Miami, will kick off Art Basel Miami Beach 2013 with the opening of Tracey Emin: Angel Without You, the first U.S. museum exhibition of the acclaimed British artist Tracey Emin. The solo presentation is the first to focus predominantly on Emin's use of neon, an important material in many of the artist's works beginning with her iconic 1995 piece The Tracey Emin Museum, which will open the show. In addition to neons, Tracey Emin: Angel Without You will also include Emin's rarely screened 1995 film Why I Never Became a Dancer, which depicts scenes of Emin's seaside hometown, replete with neon signs. Acquired by MOCA in 1998, the film was the first of Emin's works to be purchased by an American museum.

About Tracey Emin
Tracey Emin (b. 1963, London) is one of Britain's most prominent contemporary artists and is internationally recognized for the blunt and revealing style that pervades her work. Drawing from personal experiences, Emin reveals emotional situations with brutal honesty and humor in a wide variety of media, including painting, drawing, embroidery, neon, installation, sculpture, and film.

Raised in the seaside town of Margate on the English coast, Emin studied printmaking at Maidstone College of Art, Kent, and continued her studies at Royal College of Art, London, where she earned a Master's degree in painting. Emin's first commercial gallery exhibition was held at London's White Cube Gallery in 1993. In 1999, Lehmann Maupin presented Tracey Emin's first solo gallery exhibition in the United States, Every Part of Me's Bleeding. In 2007, she was chosen to represent Great Britain at the Venice Biennale, becoming the second female artist to ever do so. That same year, Emin was made a Royal Academician and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the Royal College of Art, a Doctor of Letters from the University of Kent and a Doctor of Philosophy from London Metropolitan University. In January 2013, Queen Elizabeth II appointed Emin a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for her contributions to the visual arts.
