BLUES musician Son Of Dave makes his Canterbury debut this month (February).

The former member of Grammy-nominated Crash Test Dummies has been making music for more than 25 years, building a loyal following around the world. His one-man blues show is known to be a raucous affair; this tour will feature tracks from his recent LP, Blues At the Grand, alongside favourites from his blues-cum-hiphop back catalogue.

The Canadian-born singer, AKA Benjamin Darvill, worked with Jimmy Hogarth on the LP; Hogarth has writing and production credits on hits by the likes of Amy Winehouse, James Morrison and Corrine Bailey Rae.
When Son Of Dave was first on Later...with Jools Holland, in 2007, he appeared as a one-man band with a harmonica, a shaker, his voice, a stomping foot, a looping pedal and a trunk-load of funk. He took that show around the world and recorded an album with the legendary Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, Shellac, Sparklehorse).

Son Of Dave is at The Marlowe Studio at 8pm on Friday 28 February. Tickets are £10 (concessions £9).

Also appearing at The Marlowe Studio is Glenn Tilbrook, lead singer of the group Squeeze. With his writing partner Chris Difford, Tilbrook was responsible for many top 10 hits, including Cool For Cats, Up The Junction, and Tempted.

With his solo career, Tilbrook has lost none of the joie-de-vivre that became Squeeze's trademark. This has been complemented by a live show that is delightfully shambling in its approach: Tilbrook blurs the boundary between crowd and performer by performing requests and even taking his audience for walkabouts to set up impromptu gigs!

Glenn Tilbrook is at The Marlowe Studio at 8pm on Saturday 15 March. Tickets are £17.50. To book for either concert, call the Box Office on 01227 787787, or go to marlowetheatre.com.
