"My Son the Waiter, A Jewish Tragedy," Brad Zimmerman's deliciously self-skewering account of three decades of underachievement as a beloved bad waiter, is proving to have some staying power. The hilarious one-man crowd-pleaser, which began its initial 12-week run at Stage 72 - Triad Theatre, 158 West 72nd Street, on October 10, is now on sale through March 2. The two shows on New Year's Eve -- at 7pm and 9pm -- which were originally scheduled to shut down the joint, will now ring in the New Year, as well as a two-month extension.

Written and directed by, and starring Zimmerman, "My Son the Waiter" also celebrates the holidays with a dinner sweepstakes in which Zimmerman plans to come out of retirement for one-night-only and serve as a waiter at one of Jersey's famed Italian eateries, Puglia's, in Red Bank.

The sweepstakes winner will be announced on Friday November 21, on Classic Oldies station WMTR-AM. The date of the dinner, when the lucky winner, with a guest, will be served by one of the worst, funniest waiters ever, is to be announced.

An Oradell NJ native, Zimmerman attended Riverdell High School and was bar mitzvahed at Temple Emmanuel in Westwood, NJ. He started his waiting career in the late '70s eventually working at a string of now defunct restaurants where he insists he never memorized the menu, making an art form out of underselling the food. He handed out his last check there in 2012. Now he's a big star!

In the past decade the late-blooming Zimmerman finally broke his losing streak as a struggling waiter, opening for comedy legends Joan Rivers and George Carlin. Rivers once called him "the best comic... in his price range."

"My Son the Waiter, A Jewish Tragedy" is produced by Dana Matthow and Philip Roger Roy's Playhouse Productions, Inc., the team behind "My Mother's Italian, My Father's Jewish & I'm in Therapy," "RESPECT: A Musical Journey of Women," and "Old Jews Telling Jokes" (tour). Performances are Monday at 7pm; Friday at 7pm; Saturday at 2pm & 7pm, and Sunday at 2pm.
