Whatsonstage.com is suggesting that British actor Lee Mead, best known for winning the BBC reality television show "Any Dream Will Do" and his subsequent run as Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, may be gearing up to star in a West End revival of the little known Rodgers and Hart musical, BABES IN ARMS. The revival is rumored to have set an opening for sometime in 2010.

Mead has been involved in several productions since having retired from Joseph in early 2009, including a revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, a stage adaptation of the film "Roman Holiday", and a look at the life of Marc Bolan in the musical 20th Century Boy.

BABES IN ARMS originally opened on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre on April 14, 1937, transferred to the Majestic Theatre on October 25, 1937, and closed on December 18, 1937 after 289 performances. Directed by Robert B. Sinclair with choreography by George Balanchine, the cast featured Mitzi Green, Ray Heatherton, and AlfrEd Drake, as well as the Nicholas Brothers.

Several songs in Babes in Arms have become pop standards, including the title song; "Where or When"; "My Funny Valentine"; "The Lady is a Tramp"; "Johnny One Note" and "I Wish I Were in Love Again". The film version, released in 1939, starred Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney and was directed by Busby Berkeley.
