On May 1, 2017 at 8pm, the LARK Quartet will present a celebratory concert at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall in New York City. LARK Quartet: Now & Then celebrates the past and present of The LARK String Quartet through music old and new with its present and original members. In keeping with the tradition of LARK to broaden the chamber music repertory through diverse commissions, they perform the world premiere of Andrew Waggoner's String Octet Ce morceau de tissue and the New York premiere of John Harbison's String Quartet No. 6. The harmonic and textural modernity of the Debussy String Quartet (1893), as well as the Presto from Mendelssohn's Octet (1825), bridge the premieres.

Joining the current members of the LARK Quartet will be original four members: Kay Stern, Robin Mayforth (violins), Anna Kruger (viola), and Laura Sewell (cello). In fact, the name "LARK" comes from the original members' names - it is actually an acronym for Laura, Anna, Robin and Kay. It will be wonderful to include these fantastic players on this momentous occasion.

The LARK Quartet is currently comprised of Deborah Buck, Basia Danilow (violins), Kathryn Lockwood (viola) and Caroline Stinson (cello).
