Keeley Hawes Departs BARKING IN ESSEX Due to Fight with Sheila Hancock

BARKING IN ESSEX, currently playing at London's Wyndham's Theatre through January 4, and according to the Daily Mail, star Keeley Hawes has left the production prematurely because of personal issues between her and her castmate Sheila Hancock.

A source told Daily Mail: "Sheila has forthright views about how performers should act in the play. She has a reputation for being blunt. She didn't hit it off with Keeley, partly because Keeley hasn't done much stage work before, and because they have very different personalities. In Sheila's mind she treaTed Keeley no differently to how she treated others but it's fair to say people on the production found Sheila abrasive and Keeley doesn't suffer fools gladly."

Hawes revealed the following in a recent statement: 'It is with much regret that I must announce to all ticket holders that I will no longer be performing as Chrissie Packer in Barking In Essex for the remainder of the show. I have been utterly committed to the show to date and I would like to offer my most sincere apologies to those who have purchased a ticket to see me and I hope this does not cause significant inconvenience for anyone affected.'
