Irvington Town Hall Theater (ITHT) has some new additions to the lineup this coming season along with a new theater manager. Joining the ever popular Best of Film Series (now in its 6th year) which will run one night each month, ITHT is adding two new series that will play throughout the season on alternate months: The Irvington Stage Door and Cabaret on the Hudson.

Irvington Stage Door will present readings of new works in progress in a relaxed setting without sets, costumes, or props. This new Monday night reading series (a night notoriously dark on Broadway) will host productions heading to NYC-- stopping by Irvington with a group of professional actors who will present these pieces complete with a talk-back session with the creative team.

"I'm excited to start this type of series in Irvington," theater manager Gregory Allen says. "Audiences can offer such wonderful feedback and be involved in the process of creating theater that they don't always get a chance to be involved in."

September will offer the play "Birthday Pie" by Arthur Wooten on Monday the 29th at 7:30; and then November brings a fresh new musical of the story of Peter Pan called "Wendy's Shadow" created by the team of David Maglione and Tomas Ruiz and Jason Cannon on Monday the 24th.

Cabaret on the Hudson offers an evening of song mixed with wonderful stories. ITHT is partnering with NiCori Studios and Productions to bring some of the best cabaret artists from NYC, Westchester, Rockland, and New Jersey. Each event will be hosted by Corinna Sowers-Adler, multi-nominated cabaret artist and co-founder of Nicori Studios and Productions.

"Cabaret is an art form that celebrates the American Songbook and is like having a musical conversation directly with the audience in an intimate setting," says "Corinna Sowers-Adler. "I like to make people feel like either I am in their living room or they are in mine and we are having a musical conversation. We are excited to start this conversation with the community in Irvington!"

This series will begin on Monday, October 27th at 8pm. Audiences can first enjoy one of the many restaurants the village of Irvington has to offer and then come see a show - and still be out by 9:30. Check out www.irvingtontheater.com for a list of some of the special Monday offers that restaurants are giving to Cabaret attendees.

"We also want our audiences to realize how important they are to us, so we are offering discounts for those that purchase tickets in advance online," Allen says. "Buying in advance helps us to know what to expect by way of an audience and it can save patrons a few dollars as well."

Everyone can still expect to see the wonderful musicals they have become accustomed to by our resident theater company Clocktower Players including "Miss Saigon" this fall; the exciting children's productions by Broadway Training Center of Westchester; inventive dances by Sleepy Hollow Performing Artists; a talented array of concerts presented by Common Ground or other presenters; plus new groups that offer quality theatrical arts such as a benefit event for ITHT presenting the award-winning one man show "It Goes Without Saying", Skyline Theatre Company with "A Christmas Carol" and 4th Wall Theatre presenting the play "Next Fall" in March. There is much to look forward to with the arts in Irvington for 2014-2015. www.irvingtontheater.com 85 Main Street, Irvington, NY.
