A "Conversation with Actor George Takei" is set for Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at CORE (66 E. 55th Street, NYC). Takei will discuss his legendary career and preview his upcoming Broadway show Allegiance. the conversation will be moderated by writer Mark Acito and will feature a live performance by Broadway's Telly Leung.

Takei is best known for his iconic role as Lieutenant Sulu from Star Trek. Now with over 8 million fans on Facebook and 1.4 million Twitter followers, the world also knows him as "Uncle George" -- the hilarious and ubiquitous king of social media.

Allegiance takes his career in a new direction. As a tireless champion of human rights and equality, Takei, through Allegiance tells the story of one family's struggles and triumphs during the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. Based on true events and inspired by Takei's own childhood experiences, Allegiance is a story you've never heard about a family you'll never forget.
