Just coming off of her AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN run, Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe is remaining put on the small screen.

According to Deadline, Sidibe has just signed on to join Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard in Lee Daniels and Danny Strong's upcoming hip-hop drama pilot EMPIRE for Fox. Howard recently starred in the pair's 2013 drama THE BUTLER.

In the project, Henson will take on the role of "Cookie Lyon, the ex-wife of Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), the head of a record label at the center of the drama. The character is described as a total badass who has just been released from prison after serving 17 years for dealing drugs -- money she funneled into Lucious' then-fledgling music empire. Released for good behavior, she now wants what's hers. She's the real force behind his rise to superstardom and champions her son Jamal's (Smollett) career, but that puts her at odds with her ex, who has an issue with their son's homosexuality."

Sidibe will play "Becky, Lucious' (Howard) hard-working assistant."

On THE BIG C, Sidibe portrayed a close friend and confidente to Laura Linney's Cathy.

Sidibe received an Oscar nomination for her role in the film 'Precious'. She was most recently seen on the big screen in 'Tower Heist' co-starring Eddie Murphy and Ben Stiller. She will next appear in 'Seven Psychopaths' opposite Woody Harrelson and Colin Farrell.
