The annual gala benefit for Landmark on Main Street will take place on Saturday evening, November 6, 2010 with a special performance by Broadway's leading lady Sutton Foster and a post-concert celebration in the tented Spotlight Club. Larry O. Tietz and Frank C. Ullman will be honored for their contributions to the organization and the community. The Gala Leadership includes Chairs Leslie and Andrew Abramowitz and Ellen and Marvin Makofsky and Honorary Chairs Angela Susan Anton, Jane and Robert Harding, Eric Krasnoff, Pall Corporation, Lillian McCormick, and Dot and Ed Slade.
Landmark's spotlight shines on
Sutton Foster, who most recently starred on Broadway in Shrek: The Musical. An extraordinary vocalist, she played the leading roles in Young Frankenstein, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Little Women: The Musical. Sutton received the 2002 Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her radiant performance in the title role of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Sutton performed in concert at Lincoln Center's American Songbook series, and at
Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops. Her new cabaret show at Joe's Pub and Feinstein's at the Regency received rave reviews. The upcoming Broadway production of
Cole Porter's musical Anything Goes is slated to open on April 7, 2011 with Sutton starring.
A Landmark tradition, the elegant gala reception follows the concert in the Spotlight Club - a beautiful tent
Ed Hall adjacent to the theater. The cuisine will pay tribute to three of the great roles created by the evening's star - each taking place in a different time and place: Jo March in Little Women, The Musical - 19th Century New England; Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie - early 20th Century New York City, and Princess Fiona in Shrek, The Musical - middle ages in the woods 'Far Far Away.' The Spotlight Gala is Landmark's most important fundraising event of the year when community members can take in a world-class performance and celebrate with friends - while providing essential support for this not-for-profit organization.
