Good Morning Baltimore! The cast and crew of NBC's HAIRSPRAY LIVE! will wake up to a beautiful day in Los Angeles, perfect weather to entertain millions of TV viewers across the country. According to Accuweather.com, the weather in Southern California will be partly sunny and cool today, with a high of 64 degrees, a 1% chance of precipitation and winds gusting at a gentle 4 mph.

The forecast should bring a sigh of relief to the HAIRSPRAY LIVE! team, although plans were firmly in place in the event that the weather on December 7th chose not to cooperate. Back in October, HAIRSPRAY LIVE's award-winning production designer Derek McLane told BWW, "We have a lot of contingency plans and obviously we all hope that it doesn't rain, but we have to have a plan." He continued, "Some areas we'll be able to cover, and there are some things that if it's raining really, really hard, we'll have to move inside...But the scenery itself will all be fine if it rains."

Regarding make-up and costumes in the event of rain, costume designer Mary Vogt told BWW, "Well the makeup department has already decided that they are going to do waterproof makeup on everything, and our hairdresser is talking about special hairspray that will hold hair more than usual. And with the clothes, we may be scotch guarding some things to try and help with the rain." She added, "But the clothes would have to get really wet to look wet!"

Rain or shine, it seems that Mother Nature is not going to stop the beat for tonight's highly-anticipated show!

NBC's HAIRSPRAY LIVE airs tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT from Los Angeles. The all-star cast will feature newcomer Maddie Baillio as Tracy Turnblad, Harvey Fierstein as Edna Turnblad, Jennifer Hudson as Motormouth Maybelle, Martin Short as Wilbur Turnblad, Derek Hough as Corny Collins, Ariana Grande as Penny Pingleton, Andrea Martin as Prudy Singleton and Kristin Chenoweth as Velma Von Tussle. Rosie O'Donnell and Sean Hayes will also make special appearances in the broadcast.

Live television director Alex Rudzinski will join director Kenny Leon ("The Wiz Live!"). Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (the upcoming "A Few Good Men Live!") serve as executive producers of "Hairspray Live!" Harvey Fierstein will provide a new teleplay and Jerry Mitchell ("Kinky Boots," "On Your Feet") will serve as choreographer for the live production with music and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman ("Smash" and Broadway's upcoming "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"). Derek McLane serves as production designer.

Based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, "Hairspray Live!" takes place in 1962 Baltimore. Teenager Tracy Turnblad's dream is to dance on "The Corny Collins Show," a local TV program. When, against all odds, Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight and meets a colorful array of characters, including the resident dreamboat, Link; the ambitious mean girl, Amber; an African-American boy she meets in detention, Seaweed; and his mother, Motormouth Maybelle, the owner of a local record store. Tracy's mother is the indomitable Edna Turnblad, and she eventually encourages Tracy on her campaign to integrate the all-white "Corny Collins Show."
