On February 17th, Off-Broadway's Evil Dead the Musical will play its final performance (beginning at 11 PM) at New World Stages.

Plans for a future tour and regional productions are begin made for Evil Dead.  Its cast album will be released, on the Time Life label, in the spring.

At closing, Evil Dead will have played 34 previews and 126 regular performance.
Directed by Tony-Award winner Hinton Battle and Christopher Bond, the show opened on November 1, 2006.  Previews began on October 2.

"Not your typical boy-meets-girl-meets demon comedy, Evil Dead The Musical is based on Sam Raimi's 80s cult-classic horror films.  The musical unearths the old familiar story: boy and friends take a getaway at abandoned cabin, boy expects to get lucky, boy unleashes ancient evil spirit, friends turn into Candarian Demons, boy fights until dawn to survive.  With mayhem descending upon this sleepover in the woods, the action heats up in uproarious numbers like 'All the Men in my Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons,' 'Look Who's Evil Now' and 'Do the Necronomicon,'" as show notes state.

Evil Dead The Musical features Jennifer Byrne, Jenna Coker, Renée Klapmeyer, Tom Walker, Ryan Ward, Brandon Wardell, Ryan Williams and Darryl Winslow. Evil Dead features book and lyrics by George Reinblatt, music by Frank Cipolla, Christopher Bond, Melissa Morris and George Reinblatt with music supervision by Frank Cipolla and choreography by Battle.

The production includes set by Tony-winner David Gallo, costumes by Cynthia Nordstrom, lighting by Jason Lyons and sound by Peter Fitzgerald and Kevin Lacy, with makeup and special effects by Louis Zakarian. Evil Dead The Musical is presented by Jenkay LLC, Jeffrey Latimer Entertainment and Just For Laughs Live.

Evil Dead The Musical got its start in Toronto, where early workshop engagements played to capacity and beyond.  While mainstream audiences flocked to the show, diehard Evil Dead fans made pilgrimages from across North America to see it.  The popular workshop production enjoyed two sold-out runs at Toronto's Tranzac Club before heading off to Montreal, where Evil Dead The Musical opened on July 2, 2004 at the Cabaret du Plateau as part of the 22nd Edition of the Just For Laughs Festival.
