Actor Eddie Redmayne, who is currently giving a Tony Award-nominated performance in RED on Broadway, will star as Albert in Steven Spielberg's upcoming film 'War Horse,' contactmusic.com reports, based on information from The Playlist.  The film is based on a 1982 children's novel by Michael Morpungo, which deals with the relationship between Albert and his horse, Joe, who is sold to the army during World War I.  The book has also been made into a play, which was recently produced in the West End and is to transfer to Broadway.

Eddie Redmayne's film credits include 'The Other Boleyn Girl,' 'The Yellow Handkerchief,' and 'The Good Shepherd,' and he has appeared in the television miniseries 'Tess of the d'Urbervilles' and the upcoming 'The Pillars of the Earth.'  In addition to RED, for which he won an Olivier Award in the London production, he has appeared onstage in NOW OR LATER; THE GOAT, OR WHO IS SYLVIA?; and TWELFTH NIGHT.

Acclaimed director Steven Spielberg's films include 'Schindler's List' and 'Saving Private Ryan,' both of which he won the Best Director Academy Award for, as well as blockbusters 'Jurassic Park,' 'Jaws,' and 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.'
