About Sing the Positions:
Sing the Positions is a simple fusion of dance and a music concert.
Pure rhythm, sensation, lots of noise and even more energy! Dance fuses with a concert, featuring extravagant fur and leather rock'n'roll costumes, as movement, voice and music come together.
Ioannis Mandafounis and Manon Parent, masters of movement, have created a show that transports the audience from their busy everyday lives, to connect for a moment with simple truths expressed through dance.
Ioannis Mandafounis is based in Geneva Switzerland and recently received the Swiss Dance awards in the category of Outstanding Male Dancer accolades.
Why bring it to Edinburgh?
For us, this Fringe is an experience that we absolutely cannot miss. All sorts of shows, styles, types of work. Sing the Positions is a mixture of a concert and a dance show. I feel it reflects the multiplicity that the Fringe offers.
What sets it apart from other shows at the Fringe?
Sing the Positions is a very open structure. Creative elements that normally contradict each other coexist in a harmonious way. The quality of performing and the accuracy of the dancers/choreographers is of the highest level one can find today on our planet. This is why the company Ioannis Mandafounis has been touring for so many years around the world and keeps steadily expanding its network.
Dance lovers as well as music lovers will really enjoy this piece. But as I said before. All audiences will find their way in our show.
Are there any other shows you're hoping to catch at the festival?
We would like to see as many shows as possible. Feel the vibe of the festival. Share as much possible with other artists.
