Dolly Parton Hopes to See Her Life Story Unfold as a Broadway Musical

In a new interview with Paper magazine, country music legend Dolly Parton revealed that seeing her LIFE STORY unfold on a Broadway stage is among the many items on her bucket list.

The 70-year-old Grammy-winning singer tells the magazine, "I've got buckets on both sides. I do someday hope to see my LIFE STORY on Broadway as a musical. I'd love to have a cosmetic line. As far as a bucket list, I think I do pretty much what I want - just takes a lot of time sometimes."

The '9 to 5' star is set to launch her biggest tour in 25 years and will share stories from her life with her fans through her music and song.

Parton wrote the music and lyrics to Broadway's 9 to 5: The Musical, based on the 1980 movie of the same name. It featured a book by Patricia Resnick, based on the screenplay by Resnick and Colin Higgins. The musical opened on Broadway in April 2009. It received 15 Drama Desk Award nominations, the most received by a production in a single year, as well as four Tony Awards nominations. A national tour of the US launched in 2010, followed by a UK premiere in 2012.

Making her film debut in the 1980 hit comedy "9 to 5," Dolly earned rave reviews for her performance and an Oscar nomination for writing the title tune, along with her second and third Grammy Awards. Roles in "Steel Magnolias," "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas," "Rhinestone," and "Straight Talk" followed. Dolly saw a cherished dream become a reality in 1986 with the opening of her own theme park, Dollywood, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

She has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in 2004, the U.S. Library of Congress presented her with their Living Legend Award for her contribution to the cultural heritage of the United States. In December 2015, more than 13 million tuned into "Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors" and was the most-watched film on broadcast networks since May 2012.
