Atlantic Theater Company announced today that director David Cromer will now helm the world premiere musical THE BAND'S VISIT, replacing Harold Prince, who is now unavailable due to scheduling conflicts.

With the shift in directors, Atlantic has pushed the production from Spring 2016 to this fall at The Linda Gross Theater. Exact dates have yet to be announced.

Featuring a book by Drama Desk nominee Itamar Moses and music and lyrics by Tony nominee David Yazbek, the production is described as:

"An Egyptian Police Band arrives in Israel to play a concert. After a mix up at the border, they are sent to a remote village in the middle of the desert. With no bus until morning and no hotel in sight, these unlikely travelers are taken in by the locals. Under the spell of the desert sky, their lives become intertwined in the most unexpected ways. A new musical based on the critically acclaimed screenplay which received 36 major international awards."

Director David Cromer returns to Atlantic where he staged the world premiere of Academy Award winner Ethan Coen's play Women Or Nothing. He recently directed Nikolai and the Others, Really Really and Tribes Off Broadway. He was honored with both the Lucille Lortel and Obie Award for his staging of the unanimously acclaimed Off-Broadway production of Our Town, in which he also starred as the Stage Manager. Broadway credits include the revivals of Brighton Beach Memoirs and The House of Blue Leaves. His hit production of Adding Machine: A Chamber Musical, transferred Off Broadway from his native Chicago, garnering him an Obie Award and Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Direction. He will stage Lucy Prebble's play The Effect Off Broadway this spring.
