The Telegraph writes that DOWNTON ABBEY's Lady Mary, Michelle Dockery, will return to the stage in LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES at the Donmar Warehouse from December 11 to February 13, 2016.

Christopher Hampton adapted LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES from Pierre Choderlos de Laclos' 1782 novel of the same name. It tells the story of the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, "rivals who use sex as a weapon of humiliation and degradation, all the while enjoying their cruel games."

Dockery will portray 'Madame de Tourvel', among a cast featuring Dominic West and Janet McTeer.

LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES, originally starring Alan Rickman and Lindsay Duncan, premiered with the Royal Shakespeare Company in the '80s before transferring to Broadway. It was adapted for the big screen in 1988. Roundabout Theatre Company produced a revival in New York in 2008.

Dockery started out onstage at the National, where she eventually starred with Rory Kinnear in BURNT BY THE SUN and earned an Olivier nomination for her performance. She has also appeared in HAMLET at the Crucible, as well as the National's HIS DARK MATERIALS and PILLARS OF THE COMMUNITY, the UK tour of PYGMALION, DYING FOR IT at the Almeida and more.
