CYNTHIA-REEVES Projects announces the completion of Beth Galston's Sound Wave, a 120' long site-specific sculpture, inspired by a musical staff of five bars and the undulating shape of a sound wave, commissioned by the Music City Center in Nashville, TN. Computer-controlled LED lights affixed to serpentine ribbons of metal suggest musical notes, creating a synthesized and interactive visual melody. The piece is expected for final installation, at Music City Center's 6th Avenue concourse and lobby, in the spring of 2013.

Of the piece, Nashville Arts Magazine writes:
As a public artist Beth challenges herself to create artwork that engages people to react to light and color, shadow and form, as they move through a specific
environment. She has succeeded once again, and Sound Wave will have a resounding presence in the Music City Center. (Nashville Arts Magazine, January 2013)

While still in the planning stages, Galston is additionally working on a unique public art, commissioned for a San Antonio-based facility, entitled Prairie Grass. Here again, Galston is meticulously creating a bespoke concept. In this work, however, the installation is loosely based on the wild Texas grasses, and how they freely sway, hold firm, and fall vulnerable to a compounding Texan wind. Prairie Grass will be twenty feet tall and will be installed in late 2013.

Beth Galston is an award winning installation artist, who has been showing with CYNTHIA-REEVES since 2005. A recipient of numerous awards, including a two-year fellowship from the Bunting Institute, Radcliffe, an NEA InterArts award, and a Massachusetts Artists Fellowship in Sculpture, Galston has shown at prestigious museum and public art locales, including the DeCordova Museum, Boston; and Wave Hill, NYC; among others. Major public works include: Colorwalk, an eighty foot long sculpture of colored glass for the Mesa Arts Center, AZ; Thunderbird Bridge, a vehicular bridge for Phoenix, AZ; and Tree/House, an outdoor architectural sculpture at Socrates Sculpture Park, NYC. Galston's many artist residencies include; Yaddo, MacDowell, and Sculpture Space, Inc. Most recently, Galston completed a public art project, an undulating and sinuous colored fence, in Jamaica Plain, Boston.
