The Laurie Beechman Theatre, the intimate cabaret theatre located within The West Bank Café (407 West 42nd St., @ 9th Ave) in the heart of New York's theatre district, is pleased to announce plans for our third annual New Year's Eve Celebration!

On Wednesday, December 31st, we'll be putting our best foot forward as we welcome 2009 with dinner, a champagne toast, a special musical performance by two of New York's most esteemed cabaret performers and much more. Please plan to join us in our sophisticated, casual venue as we celebrate the year that was, and welcome all that's yet to be.

Included in the price of each $125 ticket are complimentary hors' d'Oeuvres, a three course buffet specially created by Joe Marcus, Executive Chef of The West Bank Cafe, a musical performance by celebrated cabaret artists Brandon Cutrell, Alysha Umphress and the Barry Levitt Trio, as well as a midnight champagne toast. Due to the central location of The Laurie Beechman Theatre, it is advised that all patrons arrive no later than 8:15pm.

New Year's Eve Celebration: The Concert Expect standards from Rodgers and Hammerstein and Lerner & Loewe, jazz tunes made famous by Dinah Washington and Billy Strayhorn as well as holiday classics, all backed by an extraordinary three piece band. At midnight, we'll cut live to Times Square, projected on our big screen. The perfect way to welcome 2009!

THE Laurie Beechman THEATRE inside THE WEST BANK CAFÉ
Opened in 1978, The West Bank Café was a pioneer of fine dining on West 42nd Street at a time when Hell's Kitchen still lived up to its name. The Laurie Beechman Theatre, opened in the early 1980's, stages plays and hosts events nightly. Among the myriad of performers who have graced the stage of The Beechman: The Who, Broadway's Alison Fraser, Karen Mason and Warren Leight, Lewis Black (the theatre's former Playwright-in-Residence), Howard Stern, Dreamgirls composer Henry Krieger and many others. The restaurant's regulars include and have included Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Jane Fonda, Claire Danes, Chita Rivera, Signorny Weaver and Bruce Willis, among many others. Currently, the elegant boite and theatre are favorites of a host of New York's most prominent personalities.

Brandon Cutrell is a Bistro Award and two-time MAC Award winner. In December of 2005, Brandon made his debut in the world-famous Oak Room at The Algonquin Hotel. In June of 2006, Brandon made his solo debut at Feinstein's, New York's legendary nightclub on Park Avenue. New York credits: Broadway By The Year and Broadway Unplugged, both at Town Hall, Pippin (with Ben Vereen and Rosie O'Donnell), La Gioconda at TheatreSource, David Friedman's King Island Christmas and Liz Swados' Waiting For Lefty. National: Theatre of the Stars, Goodspeed Musicals, the Human Race Theatre and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. For nearly two years, Brandon was the original host of the MAC Award nominated show, Mostly Sondheim. Currently, Brandon can be seen every Friday night at The Laurie Beechman Theatre on 42nd Street as the host of The After Party, a weekly open-mic, musical theatre soirée. Brandon's self-titled debut cd was released at Feinstein's and is now available on iTunes and at www.BrandonCutrell.com.

Alysha Umphress, a graduate of The Boston Conservatory, most recently appeared in the Off-Broadway's Make Me A Song. Upon her arrival to New York, Alysha made a splash at the Chelsea bar, XL, winning their American Idol-type competition, XL Star. She has opened for Diana Krall at the Fujitsu Jazz Festival, soloed along side Carlos Santana at San Francisco's Fillmore Auditorium and performed with the Boston Pops. Regional roles include the Witch in Into the Woods, Trina in Falsettos and Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress. Alysha is the recipient of two Bay Area Theatre Critics Awards for her work in Rags and FAB! She has belted out the National Anthem for The Oakland A's, San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings and San Jose Sharks. Alysha's debut cd is available at www.AlyshaUmphress.com.
