Carnegie in Concert Presents BIRDIE TO BRICE: 50 YEARS OF CARMON DELEONE, 5/22

On Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 7:30pm, the 2013-14 Carnegie in Concert season continues with the celebration of Carmon DeLeone's half century of musical influence and achievement.

Celebrate a semi centennial of concerts under the baton of Maestro Carmon DeLeone as he and his Middletown Symphony Orchestra bring to life an evening of music theatre. Featured performances include such favorites as BYE BYE BIRDIE, FUNNY GIRL and MAN OF LA MANCHA. Joining Carmon will be Tony Award nominee, decorated Broadway veteran and Covington native, Lee Roy Reams.

Best known for his role as Music Director for The Cincinnati Ballet, The Middletown (OH) Symphony and Conductor Laureate of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, Carmon DeLeone possesses and impressive list of accomplishments. His diverse talents as composer, conductor and director are benefactors of his wide range of musical interests. He is experienced in both the classics and jazz, and has even hosted his own weekly radio program, "Sunday Morning Music Hall" which aired on WRRM-FM for 17 years.

Carnegie In Concert Series

Now in its seventh season in 2013-14, Carnegie in Concert strives to break the mold of chamber music offerings from yesteryear. The series challenges established programming norms by blending traditional string quartets, wind ensembles, and solo piano performances with gospel, jazz, musical theatre, Dixieland, and a cadre of other musical styles. The relationship between performer and audience is also re-imagined through an open dialogue revealing the essence of the selections and their meaning to the performers. The comfortable and intimate Otto M. Budig Theatre provides a unique environment for a unique concert experience, complete with a cash bar in the beautiful Carnegie Galleries.

The Carnegie is a multidisciplinary arts venue serving the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati community.
