On Sunday, July 16, 2006, Off-Broadway's Burleigh Grime$ will play its final performance at New World Stages (340 W. 50th St.). At the conclusion of its run, the production will have played 24 previews and 39 regular performances.

The closing coincides with the departure of star Wendie Malick, who returns to L.A. on July 17 to begin filming the new ABC primetime comedy ""Big Day,"" premiering Thursdays at 8 p.m. this fall.

Directed by David Warren and co-starring Mark Moses (""Desperate Housewives""), James Badge Dale (""24":) and Ashley Williams (""Huff""), the New York premiere of Roger Kirby's Burleigh Grime$ opened Tuesday, June 13, 2006. Preview performances began Tuesday, May 23.

"Set in a world where no bad deed goes unrewarded, Burleigh Grime$ follows George Radbourn (Dale), a Wall Street newbie who doesn't recognize that his mentor, Burleigh Grimes (Moses), may not be entirely sincere in appearance or agenda. A hard-driving stock market force, Grimes is a relentless man of infinite calculation, further assisted in his financial schemes by media powerhouse Elizabeth Bigley (Malick). In an arena where the naïve and sentimental face ruin, George struggles for survival under the hand of Grimes' flexible business tactics, while also dealing with the arrival of his college sweetheart, Grace Redding (Williams), who will soon have to face some difficult choices of her own," state press notes on the show, which is directed by David Warren.

T
he show features original music by two-time Tony and Grammy Award nominee David Yazbek (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Full Monty), performed by a live onstage band.

Burleigh Grime$ features set design by Jim Youmans, costume design by Gregory Gale, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, sound design by Peter Fitzgerald and choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler. The New York premiere of the play is presented by Lewis Productions.
