The Theatre Museum has announced the honorees for the 2014 Theatre Museum Awards for Excellence. The mission of The Theatre Museum is to preserve, protect, and perpetuate the legacy of the theatre. It is the first and only chartered non profit museum dedicated to the history of Theatre. Since 1995 The Awards for Excellence have recognized individuals and organizations for their contribution to theater arts, education, theater history and preservation. The 2014 Theatre Museum Awards will take place on Tuesday, May 27th at 6PMat The Players Club 16 Gramercy Park, NYC.

This year, The Theatre Museum honors two companies that have made important efforts to educate and to preserve theatre. BroadwayWorld will be honored with the 2014 Award for Excellence in Theatre Arts Education. The 2014 Award for Excellence in Theatre History Preservation will go to Fathom Events, a company that has paved the way for stage-to-screen content. 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of The Marx Brothers, so in addition to the awards, the event will present a Tribute to The Marx Brothers. The tribute will feature appearances by Trav S. D., Lady Rizo, Ariela Pizza, Michael Goldfried, Parallel Exit, Abe Goldfarb, and the cast of "I'll Say She Is". The 2014 TTM Awards are produced by Alyssa Renzi and Trav S. D. Board member Joe Benincasa, who was recently recognized by The Actors Fund with a medal of honor and will be honored at the 2014 Tony Awards, remarked, "We are extremely excited for this year's awards ceremony. It is shaping up to be a very entertaining night!"

Previous Theatre Museum Award recipients include Jujamcyn Theaters, The American Theatre Wing, Manhattan Theatre Club, Carmen de Lavallade, Bonnie Comley, Ellen Burstyn, Ben Brantley, Richard M. Sherman, Robert B. Sherman, and Sheldon Harnick.
