In an interview with Pridesource's Chris Azzopardi, Britney Spears may have offended the gay community with her recent comments supposedly meant to show her support for her gay fans.

While promoting her eighth album, Britney Jean, the pop star defended previous comments she made about her gay fans: "They're adorable," she said, "They're absolutely adorable." Apparently, the reference has rubbed many in the gay community the wrong way.

While seemingly confused on why her comments were offensive, the 32-year-old commented, "Wait, what? Who felt the other way?" she asked, adding "I would never say anything to be mean to them. I love my gay fans. Gay people are always usually my best friends in the whole world. I completely adore them."

The singer went on to share, "I get inspiration from them on almost all of my songs. They're somewhat girls, so it's so inspiring to do stuff that they like to hear, like the cool 'in' stuff. Whatever I do for each record is definitely inspired by them."

Spears is reportedly planning an upcoming one-woman show in Las Vegas show as well as the release of her eighth studio album to be released later this year. 'Work Bitch' is the lead single from the LP. Her publicist recently commented, "Britney has been using a vocal coach and going to regular sessions and has also been working hard with her choreographer in preparation for what's coming up!"
