According to the Beacon Herald, Tony nominee Brian Bedford, who was previously slated to star in THE MISANTHROPE at Stratford Shakespeare Festival, will no longer participate due to medical reasons. Peter Hutt will now play Oronte in the show.

Artistic director Des McAnuff commented: "Brian's condition is treatable, and it is expected that he will make a full recovery. However, it does require immediate medical attention, which means he will not be able to take part in 'The Misanthrope'." He continued, "I know this is a huge disappointment to Brian, as it is to all of us here, but we look forward to his return to our stages in future seasons. In the meantime, we send him our very best wishes for a speedy recovery."

The production opens August 12, and will directed by David Grindley. For additional information, visit: www.stratfordshakespearefestival.com.
