UK's The Telegraph reports that Brad Pitt is considering filling Matthew McConaughey's spot in HBO's hit drama series TRUE DETECTIVE.

McConaughey, who recently picked up an Oscar for his lead role in 'Dallas Buyer's Club', announced that he would not be returning for the show's sophomore season. According to the report, Pitt's name has "come up many times" with the show's producers, and his involvment will hinge on what his other commitments are. Pitt has developed "tight relations with HBO" since producing the highly anticipated HBO film The Normal Heart.

A source tells Hollywood Life that the series has been attracting big name A-list celebs. "It's the show everyone wants to be on, because the writing and the roles are just so exquisite and complex," they report.

True Detective is written by Nic Pizzolatto and directed by Cary Fukunaga. It centers on two detectives, Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson), whose lives collide and entwine during a seventeen-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana. The investigation of a bizarre murder in 1995 is framed and interlaced with testimony from the detectives in 2012, when the case has been reopened.
