The Muny will present THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE as a part of the 94th season in Forest Park. Set to star in the production are Broadway favorites Beth Leavel, Leslie Uggams, and Tari Kelly as Mrs. Meers, Muzzy, and Millie respectively. The production, running  June 18-24, will be directed by Marc Bruni and choreographed by Chris Bailey.

Winner of six Tony® Awards, including Best Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie is the tale of a small- town girl arriving in New York City to lead a new, thoroughly modern lifestyle. A big, fun-filled show done in true Muny fashion, ...Millie is filled with energetic dance numbers, fabulous flappers, and the spectacle of 1920s New York. Music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by Dick Scanlan.

On Broadway, Uggams made her stunning musical theater debut starring in Hallelujah, Baby!,
earning both Tony® and Theater World Awards. Since then she has starred on Broadway in Blues in
the Night, Her First Roman, Jerry’s Girls, Anything Goes, King Headley II, Thoroughly Modern
Millie, and most recently On Golden Pond opposite James Earl Jones.

Leavel made her Broadway debut in the 1985 production of 42nd Street as a replacement for Annie. Twelve years later Leavel made her original cast debut in Crazy for You as Tess and an understudy for Polly Baker. Leavel played the starring role of Beatrice Stockwell in The Drowsy Chaperone, for which she received a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.
She most recently playe Florence Greenberg in Baby It's You.
