Hall wrote the script, which centers on "a maverick female Secretary of State as she drives international diplomacy, wrangles office politics and balances a complex family life".

Neuwirth will play 'Nadine', the chief of staff who works alongside the Secretary of State (Leoni).

Her previous TV credits include Blue Bloods, The Good Wife, Bored to Death, Law & Order, Frasier, Hack, Deadline, Cheers and more.

Neuwirth has also starred on Broadway in The Addams Family, Fosse, Chicago and Sweet Charity -- both for which she won Tony Awards -- Damn Yankees, Little Me, Dancin' and A Chorus Line.
