In this week's The Hollywood Reporter, LIFE IN PIECES star James Brolin shared that his wife, Barbra Streisand may helm an upcoming episode of the hit CBS drama.

"I went to her originally and proposed that she might direct one," Brolin tells THR Monday night. "She said maybe in the second season, once we're settled." He went on to explain that it will be a challenge to find room in Streisand's busy schedule. "she's directing Catherine the Great right now, and she's got three projects going, plus an album. She's so busy, I have to make an appointment to talk to her!"

Added Brolin's co-star Thomas Sadoski, "She came and watched us shoot the pilot. She couldn't have been any lovelier, and having her around giving us support was amazing. Literally, anything that woman wants to do, she's the queen."

Executive producer Jason Winer shared that in addition to directing an episode of the series, the Oscar winner may also appear in a guest starring role. "It's something we're talking about," Winer said. "We've talked about a couple different possibilities. Jen's mother is one example. An ex of Brolin's is another example. I think it would be fun to have her play a very weird character who is nothing like her, let her think outside the box."

Streisand last took on directorial duties back in 1996 with "The Mirror Has Two Faces". LIFE IN PIECES would mark her TV directorial debut. Her most recent album "Partners," released in November of 2014, went platinum with over 500,000 copies sold.

Recognized as an icon in multiple entertainment fields, Ms. Streisand has attained unprecedented achievements as a recording artist, actor of stage and screen, concert performer, movie producer, film director, author, songwriter and philanthropist. In her accomplished career she has been awarded two Oscars, five Emmys, ten Golden Globes, eight Grammys plus two special Grammys; a Lifetime Achievement Award and a Grammy Legend Award, a special Tony award in 1970 as Star of the Decade, and two Cable Ace awards - the only artist to receive honors in all of those fields of endeavor. Ms. Streisand is the recipient of the American Film Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award, the National Endowment for the Arts Medal, two Peabody Awards and the French Légion d'honneur. Ms. Streisand is also the first female film director to receive the KENNEDY Center Honors.
