A Production To Be Proud Of - Our Town at Newbury Park High School

Edward Albee once described fellow playwright Thornton Wilder's Our Town as,"...probably the finest play ever written by an American". It is a play full of moving, intelligent, funny, and genuine moments and the ensemble cast of Newbury Park High School's Panther Players delivers a production of professional proportions.

Kudos to director/educator Marilyn Strange for assembling a cast of multi-leveled actors who, under her direction, come together to form an evening of two hours of quality theatre that goes above and beyond that of a typical high school theatre experience.

For an ensemble piece at a high school, one would expect a few weak links...but not here. Within all of the levels: every theatrically experienced teen is given their moment to shine and set the proverbial bar high, every newbie is challenged and reaches said bar with strength and fortitude, and every other cast member (in between) fit in successfully to create the production to which the audience gave a standing ovation.

The 25 member cast deserves huge kudos for being invested in every scene and bringing true emotions and heart and life to the entire production. Goose bumps and teary-eyed moments were experienced multiple times by this reviewer.

Bravi to the quality production values and design elements that keep the environment creatively simple making it a huge portion of the ensemble experience.
