Chris Hemsworth and Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs Announce Nominations for 86th ACADEMY AWARDS Today

Actor Chris Hemsworth and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Cheryl Boone Isaacs will announce the 86th Academy Awards nominations today, January 16.

The Oscars will air Sunday, March 2, 2014, live on ABC. Boone Isaacs and Hemsworth will unveil the nominations at a 5:38 a.m. PT live news conference at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Hemsworth made his feature film debut in 2009's "Star Trek," but it was his title role in "Thor" two years later that propelled him to worldwide prominence. He reprised the character in the Marvel blockbusters "The Avengers" and "Thor: The Dark World." Hemsworth's other feature credits include "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "Rush," and he has starring roles in "Cyber" and "In the Heart of the Sea," both due out next year.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2013 will be presented on Oscar Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® and televised live on the ABC Television Network. The presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide. Ellen Degeneres will return as host of the ceremonies.
