Bad Theater Fest, created as a supportive, fun and open environment for artists, presents their first annual collection of holiday-inspired performances at Treehouse Theater, 154 W 29th St (b/t 6th and 7th Ave) - 2nd Fl, New York, NY 10001. The festive variety show takes place tonight, December 20, 9pm - 11pm. Tickets are $5 and available for purchase through treehousetheaternyc.com or badtheaterfest.com.

Scheduled to appear are comedian/storyteller Jason Blanche sharing embarrassing and cringe-worthy Christmas stories about his domineering mother and ailing stepfather; a hastily produced version of Hans Christian Andersen's pessimistic fairy tale 'Fir Tree' from director Courtney Price; music and comedy sketches by the Rolling Scones Sketch Show; a talk show hosted by Drunk Santa Claus; and the baby Jesus may even make a surprise appearance (in utero!).

'The Naughty List xxMas Special' represents the first production not part of their annual festival of "bad" theater pieces. "It's not because a slot at the theater just opened up so we decided to host a Christmas variety show," states co-producer Shawn Wickens. "We really wanted to do this and it's totally not one of those thrown together at the last minute-type of shows."

Now in its third year, Bad Theater Fest started on a whim and with an initial investment of $200 by friends Shawn Wickens and Starr Kendall. The festival has hosted almost 200 short plays with the participation of nearly 500 playwrights, directors and actors. Past participant, comedian Eitan Levine calls Bad Theater Fest, "...one of the most creatively rewarding experiences I have ever had." Bad Theater Fest also runs the annual Bad Film Fest, now taking submissions for Spring 2015.
