Ana Gasteyer to Host Fire Island Dance Festival, 7/14-7/16

The Fire Island Dance Festival will return to Fire Island Pines on the weekend of July 14 - 16, and The Threepenny Opera's Ana Gasteyer will host it. This year's edition -- "12 BY 12"-- will feature twelve internationally acclaimed artists and dance companies performing repertory along with ten world premieres created specifically for the three day event.
The festival is presented by and benefits Dancers Responding to AIDS a program of Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS."12 BY 12 - Fire Island Dance Festival Twelve" will be hosted by Broadway, film, and television star Gasteyer and feature the innovative work of: American Repertory Ballet, Axis Danz, Julian Barnett project, Timothy Bish, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Christopher Davis, Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, Momix, Peter Quanz, Verb Ballets and Kevin Wynn Collection in three outdoor performances with the Great South Bay as a backdrop in Fire Island Pines. This year's edition, "12 BY 12 - Fire Island Dance Festival Twelve" marks the first time that the Festival is offering Choreographic Sponsorships for new dance works. This year's festival will also feature ten world premieres as well as other works from world-renowned dance companies and choreographers. The Festival takes place on a stage specially built for the event, on a spectacular private deck at the bay front home of Jon Biondo, Tim Horman and Sean Peggs. Annually, the Festival's three performances draw sell-out crowds.
