Matt Munisteri will celebrate the release of his new CD "Still Runnin' 'Round in The Wilderness - The Lost Music of Willard Robison Vol l". In the mid 1920's the pianist, singer, composer and arranger Willard Robison began recording a startling series of recordings of his own songs, and in the process became a prototype for that lasting American twentieth century artistic archetype; the singer-songwriter. And yet in the 8 decades which followed none of these unclassifiable recordings have ever been commercially re-issued. The guitarist, singer and songwriter Matt Munisteri has spent years tracking down these original recordings on 78 records and has now not only brought them to light, but has re-imagined them as a body of work rightfully freed from the trappings of era or idiom.

Charles Perry affectionately known as “Charlie” began singing at the tender age of five, as most great vocalists, his singing career emerged out of the black church. By the age of thirteen, he was featured on the album of Montel Thomas, which hit the Billboards, entering in at number 10. From age sixteen to present, Charles was becoming a teenage sensation, he was the youngest actor to earn a theatre role in Vy Higginson’s highly acclaimed musical, “Mama I Want to Sing”. While performing in the musical he was offered the opportunity to sing along alongside and grab the attention of singing greats, Grammy Award winners CeCe Winans and gospel sensation Shirley Ceasar, as well as Stacy Francis and Shana both from the “Waiting to Exhale” soundtrack, all while performing live in New York’s Madison Square Garden. Charles Perry has toured with R&B legends Regina Belle and Stephanie Mills, and continuing on vocally with Sister act’s own Tonya Blount and not to forget Grammy Award winner Lisa Fischer. Charles Perry starred in a play called “This is my song” with Cissy Houston and Tramaine Hawkins. His television credits include the David Letterman show, as well as the Michael Jackson 25th Anniversary Special. He’s sung background with such artist as Liza Minelli, the late great Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Luther Vandross, not to mention Usher, 98 Degrees and Marc Anthony. Charlie was also blessed to have worked with Rap Icons “De La Soul” and was featured on their album “The Grind” which he appeared on their hit song “Reality”. Charlie has also recorded with Stellar Award Nominee James Hall & Worship and Praise at Foxwoods. He’s toured the U.K. with John Legends recording artist “Estelle”. Many people compare me, many try to label me, but through it all, I’m just Charles Perry and I got next. Period…

The Hungarian Cultural Center, NY and Centrum Management present Central European World Music: a fascinating world music experience blending Eastern and Central European folk music from the exceptional European artists, Kálmán Balogh Gypsy Cimbalom Trio, from Budapest
Kálmán Balogh is one of the foremost Hungarian cimbalom players, descending from a famous dynasty of Hungarian Gypsy musicians. His virtuosity is matched only by his understanding and respect of his heritage. A graduate of Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music of Budapest, he has completed many successful tours throughout the world with various ensembles, including well over a dozen tours in North America. The cimbalom, a sort of oversized hammer dulcimer played with mallets like a vibraphone, possesses piano like percussive abilities to drive a band rhythmically or take the melodic lead. In Kálmán Balogh's expert hands, the cimbalom can do both simultaneously. His mastery of this unique and rare Hungarian folk instrument has mesmerized audiences.
Kálmán Balogh Gypsy Cimbalom Trio is the dynamic merging of music from the old and new worlds. Balogh continues a fabled European musical tradition harking back to the collaboration of masters like gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli, connecting ancient folk music traditions of Central and Eastern Europe with the chord progressions and swinging rhythm of jazz. Balogh's cimbalom becomes a new and compelling voice centering the Trio, which is enhanced by acoustic violin/viola and acoustic bass. Similarities in jazz and traditional folk music, such as improvisation and a kaleidoscope of emotional expressions, are immediately evident.
The Trio includes excellent musicians who have worked with Balogh extensively. Robert Lakatos, a viola and violin player from Slovakia, is steeped in classical music training and played with important classical orchestras, but always gravitated toward folk and world music. He plays in several groups ranging from classical to folk and jazz genres. Robert’s band, the RÉV, has become a popular band in Hungary and Slovakia. Bassist Csaba Novák is one of the most versatile bass players in Hungary, familiar with gypsy style, klezmer, folk music, jazz and world music.
Melodies polished in European villages for centuries are interpreted with great respect and understanding by The Gypsy Cimbalom Trio, enabling present day music lovers to experience the emotions and beauty inherent in the music of our ancestors. Kálmán Balogh Gypsy Cimbalom Trio brings a contemporary and uniquely forward-looking edge to time-honored traditions, leaving audiences enthralled and inspired.

Bhi Bhiman is an American original, yet he seems transported from an era in which songs were more important than the pretty faces that delivered them. His rich, bellowing tenor can soothe or explode at a moment’s notice. His lived-in, knowing delivery belies his years. His songwriting, too, is quick to captivate: a mix of humor and deep empathy puts him in the company of distinguished (and much older) lifelong songsmiths like John Prine, Nick Lowe and Randy Newman. And Bhiman’s technical, emotive guitar playing rises to the challenge that his striking voice presents.
Justin Robinson and the Mary Annettes' debut full-length, Bones For Tinder, paints a much more vivid picture of this eclectic individual than his work in the Carolina Chocolate Drops ever did. "Bonfire" and "Nemesis and Me" recall the crepuscular indie rock of the Go-Betweens, while the slowly unspooling lyrical intro to "Kissin and Cussin" flirts with sepia-tone hip-hop. "Ships and Verses" dishes out grooves that could prompt the foot soldiers of Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation to bust out in a buck and wing or a merry minuet, as mandolin and fiddle licks run rings around Motown handclaps. For "Vultures," strokes across the autoharp ride skeletal funk breaks with the surprising grace of an equestrienne sitting sidesaddle. It is impossible to pigeonhole the Mary Annettes. "I couldn't characterize it in any one genre," concurs Robinson. "It's what I like, which is lots of different things… and everything I've been influenced by."

If you walk down the streets of Georgia's capital, Tbilisi, the city where Ilusha Tsinadze was born, you're likely to hear one of his band's recordings blaring from a taxi cab, a youngster's cell phone, or over the old speakers at the bazaar. Step into New York City, where Ilusha lives now, and you can catch one of his sold-out performances at jazz clubs and folk music venues alike, where enthusiastic folkies, jazz-heads, and immigrants gather to hear his take on Georgia's ancient folk traditions. His band's recently released debut album, Deda Ena/Mother Tongue, brings mountain songs and village dances into conversation with the global city, featuring blazing fiddle solos, African and Brazilian percussion, and jazz improvisation.

Her first album went Gold, selling more than 40,000 copies. Her music and performances have reached places like Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina, the US, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Belgium, and beyond. Her music has also permeated the worlds of film, television and advertising, featuring prominently in campaigns for such companies as Häagen Dazs. Russian Red can also be found singing a duet of "Love Me Tender" with Elvis Presley as part of the special Spanish edition of the album "Viva Elvis". Loose Cattle were named after a country road sign...and sound that way. Like a night in a neglected pasture corralling Ferdinand the Bull, Babe the Blue Ox and mad cow disease, evenings with the Cattle are an unruly ramble through classic Carter Family and Louvin Brothers songs, contemporary tunes about guns and gasoline, and mashups that mark Dolly Parton and Cee-Lo Green with the same glowing branding iron.
Michael Cerveris (actor and former Bob Mould sideman hailing from West Virginia) and Kimberly Kaye (Garden State native and ex New Direxion trumpetress) are duo vocalists in the Buddy and Julie Miller/Civil Wars vein, riding both Cerveris' original songs and crowd-pleasing covers with able-bodied ranch hands Gabriel Caplan (Naomi Shelton & Gospel Queens), Lorenzo Wolf (The Lisps) and Eddie Zweiback (Losers' Lounge).---
