The Grand Opening Celebration of the third season of Manhattan's only free admission ice-skating rink, The Pond at Bryant Park (Bryant Park, 42nd Street and Avenue of the Americans), takes place on Monday, October 29 at 12:30PM.

The Altar Boyz will be on-hand to celebrate the event with a performance from their acclaimed off Broadway musical comedy; plus championship skaters from Smuckers Stars on Ice, America's most prestigious figure skating tour; the skating harmony of the Haydenettes and other live performances. 

To celebrate the official opening, the first 300 skaters will be treated to free skate rentals, courtesy of Citi.  

Scheduled to appear at the event are the cast of the Altar Boyz, the acclaimed musical comedy currently at New World Stages, winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical Off-Broadway. Michael Weiss: Three-time U.S. Figure Skating Champion; two-time World Bronze Medalist, Kyoko Ina and John Zimmerman: Three-time National Pair Champions; World Bronze Medalists, Silvia Fontana:  Three-time Italian Champion; represented Italy at the 2006 Winter Olympics Sinead and John Kerr: Four-time British Ice Dance Champions from Scotland; represented Great Britain at the 2006 Winter Olympics, Isabella Tobias and Otar Japaridze: International ice dance team representing the country of Georgia, The Haydenettes: Acclaimed synchronized skating troupe, Rod Gilbert: The New York Rangers, Ken Podziba, New York City Sports Commissioner and Peter Knitzer, Chairman and CEO, Citibank North America.

The Pond at Bryant Park is located at Bryant Park, 42nd Street and Avenue of the Americas.
