Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to Return as Writers For Next STAR TREK Movie?

The Hollywood Reporter writes that STAR TREK and STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are in talks to write the franchise's next film for Paramount and Skydance Productions. Director J.J. Abrams is currently in negotiations to produce STAR TREK 3 through Bad Robot.

The third writer for INTO DARKNESS, Damon Lindelof, will reportedly not be returning to help pen STAR TREK 3. All of this news follows earlier rumors that Paramount had vetted new writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz for the job.

Stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana will likely return for STAR TREK 3, though no cast has been set, the project remains untitled, and there is no firm start date. BWW will keep you updated as the details emerge.

Kurtzman and Orci are currently working with Universal on The Mummy reboot and Van Helsing, as well as the upcoming TV pilot Sleepy Hollow, Edge of Tomorrow, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The duo has also written for Hawaii Five-0, Fringe, Cowboys & Aliens, Transformers, The Legend of Zorro, Alias and more.
