Due to an injured actor, the workshop production of the new musical, JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH was cancelled Thursday night at Goodspeed Musical's Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn. according to an article from the Hartford Courant.

The show will continue with an actor from the ensemble filling in for the actress who played the character of "Spiker," Ruth Gottschall.

Like many regional theaters, the Goodspeed doesn't have understudies. It has been reported that the substitute actor will go on with book in hand, and it is still unknown if Gottschall will resume the role.

According to a theater spokesman, Gottschall injured herself in performance.

The production is a musical based in the Roald Dahl children's book, with direction by Graciela Daniele. The choreography is by Pilobolus.

The show ends on Sunday.
