ABC Claims 5 of the Week's Top 20 TV Shows in Key Demo

For the 2nd week in a row, ABC finished as Monday's most-watched network overall and ranked No. 1 with Adults 18-34 and key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54). Growing week to week in Adults 18-49 (+5%), the Net ran in a virtual tie for No. 1 on the night, pacing within 1-tenth of a rating point and tied in a share with FOX and its two back-to-back "Sleepy Hollow" episodes, including the finale (2.2/6 vs. 2.3/6). ABC's "Castle" was Monday's most-watched drama (9.0 million), outdrawing NBC's "Blacklist" (8.8 million) and Fox's "Sleepy Hollow" closer (7.1 million).

"The Bachelor" (8:00-10:01 p.m. - 7.9 million and 2.3/6 in AD18-49):

From 8:00-10:01 p.m., ABC's "The Bachelor" once again dominated its unscripted competition in the 2-hour time period, beating NBC's back to back episodes of "Hollywood Game Night" by 3.4 million viewers (7.9 million vs. 4.5 million) and by 64% in Adults 18-49 (2.3/6 vs. 1.4/4). For the 2nd straight week, the ABC unscripted series won its slot in Adults 18-34 and was Monday's No. 1 TV show in key Women (W18-34/W18-49).

"Castle" (10:01-11:00 p.m. - 9.0 million and 2.0/6 in AD18-49):

ABC's "Castle" was the most-watched TV show overall in its time period and nearly caught NBC's "Blacklist" in Adults 18-49 with its closest-ever finish (2.0/6 vs. 2.3/6). In addition, the ABC drama also held the No. 1 position in The Hour over "Blacklist" in Adults 18-34 and across all key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54). "Castle" was up for the 2nd consecutive week in Adults 18-49 (+5%) to deliver its highest number since November - since 11/25/13.

Tuesday

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - R" (8:00-9:01 p.m. - 3.6 million and 0.9/2 in AD18-49):

During the 8 o'clock hour, ABC's repeat "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." was up from its most-recent encore telecast on 12/17/13 in Total Viewers (+9% - 3.6 million vs. 3.3 million) and Adults 18-49 (+13% - 0.9/2 vs. 0.8/3).

"The Goldbergs" (9:01-9:31 p.m. - 4.7 million and 1.5/4 in AD18-49):

In the 9:00 p.m. half-hour, ABC's "The Goldbergs" spiked over its repeat "S.H.I.E.L.D." lead-in by 1.1 million viewers and by 67% in Adults 18-49. "The Goldbergs" stood as Tuesday's most-watched comedy, outdrawing all 4 of Fox's sitcoms on the night, with a nearly 1.0 million viewer advantage over "New Girl" in their common half-hour (4.7 million vs. 3.8 million). The ABC freshman comedy was up from the last time it followed an encore "S.H.I.E.L.D." on 12/3/13 in both Total Viewers (+2% - 4.7 million vs. 4.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (+7% - 1.5/4 vs. 1.4/4).

"Trophy Wife" (9:31-10:00 p.m. - 3.4 million and 0.9/2 in AD18-49):

In the 9:30 p.m. half-hour, ABC's "Trophy Wife" nearly matched its week-ago Total Viewer count and beat Fox's "The Mindy Project" in the half-hour by 17% (3.4 million vs. 3.0 million).

"Killer Women" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.6 million and 0.7/2 in AD18-49):

During the 10:00 p.m. hour, ABC's "Killer Women" was up week to week in Total Viewers (+3%) and held steady in Adults 18-49.

Wednesday

Opposite Fox's 2-hour "American Idol" on Wednesday, ABC held the No. 2 position on the night in Adults 18-49 (2.0/5) for the 2nd week in a row. ABC claimed the Top 2 scripted shows of the night with "Modern Family" and "The Middle," respectively.

· The Net was up week to week in viewers (+5%) and young adults (+11%), matching a 9-week high in Adults 18-49 - since 11/20/13. In fact, all 5 of ABC's Wednesday series grew week to week in Adults 18-49.

"The Middle" (8:00-8:30 p.m. - 8.0 million and 2.3/7 in AD18-49):

At 8:00 p.m., "The Middle" built week to week in viewers (+7%) and young adults (+28%), posting its best numbers against "American Idol" in almost 1 year - since 2/20/13.

"Suburgatory" (8:30-9:00 p.m. - 5.9 million and 1.8/5 in AD18-49):

At 8:30 p.m., ABC's "Suburgatory" improved by double digits over its week-ago season premiere in Total Viewers (+11%) and Adults 18-49 (+13%), marking its most-watched telecast since February and tying its best young adult number since March - since 2/27/13 and 3/27/13, respectively. In addition among Adults 18-49, "Suburgatory" delivered ABC's top rating in the half-hour since mid-November - since 11/13/13.

"Modern Family" (9:00-9:31 p.m. - 9.6 million and 3.4/9 in AD18-49):

Surging over its lead-in at 9:00 p.m., ABC's "Modern Family" was up from the previous week by 5% in Total Viewers and by 6% in Adults 18-49.

"Super Fun Night" (9:31-10:00 p.m. - 4.8 million and 1.7/4 in AD18-49):

In the 9:30 p.m. half-hour, "Super Fun Night" increased week to week by 9% in Total Viewers and by 13% in Adults 18-49. Spiking 36% in Adults 18-34, "Super Fun Night" earned a 10-week high - since 11/13/13.

"Nashville" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 5.0 million and 1.4/4 in AD18-49):

In the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's "Nashville" gained 8% in Adults 18-49 from the prior week. On average, "Nashville" is ABC's biggest percentage gainer in TV playback this season (Top 5 on all of broadcast), shooting up 75% in Adults 18-49 (+1.2 rating points) from L+SD to L+7.

Thursday

"The Taste" (8:00-10:00 p.m. - 4.0 million and 1.1/3 in AD18-49):

Opposite Fox's "American Idol" and the series debut of "Rake" from 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC's "The Taste" grew by double digits week to week in Total Viewers (+21%) and Adults 18-49 (+22%).

· Head-to-head in the 2-hour time period, the ABC unscripted show defeated NBC's comedies ("Community"/"Parks and Recreation"/"The Michael J. FOX Show"/"Sean Saves the World") by 1.3 million viewers (4.0 million vs. 2.7 million) and by 22% in Adults 18-49 (1.1/3 vs. 0.9/3).

"Shark Tank-R" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 4.1 million and 1.2/3 in AD18-49):

Building on its lead-in at 10:00 p.m., an encore "Shark Tank" was up by 8% in Total Viewers to draw the Net's largest audience in the slot in 4 weeks and retained 100% of Adults 18-49 to match a 5-week high in The Hour for ABC - since 12/26/13 and 12/19/13, respectively.

· ABC's repeat "Shark Tank" ran neck-and-neck with NBC's original "Parenthood" in Total Viewers (4.1 million vs. 4.3 million) and among Adults 18-49 (pacing within 1-tenth of a rating point - 1.2/3 vs. 1.3/4).

Friday

Tying a season high on the night (matching its top-rated Friday since 11/9/12), ABC won Friday among Adults 18-49 for the 3rd week in a row, leading runner-up FOX by 21% (1.7/5 vs. 1.4/4). In fact, over the last three weeks, ABC has delivered the 3 highest-rated non-sports Friday nights for any net this season in Adults 18-49. ABC's "Shark Tank" (2.2/7) and "20/20" (1.9/6) finished as the Top 2 TV programs of the night for the 3rd straight week in Adults 18-49.

· "Shark Tank" scored its largest-ever audience (8.2 million) and hit a new series high in Adults 18-49 (2.2/7) for a regular telecast.

· Setting new season highs, "20/20" drew its biggest audience (8.3 million) in nearly 4 years, while hitting its highest Adult 18-49 (1.9/6) and Adult 25-54 (2.7/7) numbers in close to 2 years - since 2/5/10 and 3/30/12, respectively.

· Qualifying as Friday's No. 1 non-sports telecast this season, "Shark Tank" has now delivered Friday's Top 12 non-sports telecasts of 2013-14 among Adults 18-49 in L+SD.

"Last Man Standing" (8:00-8:31 p.m. - 6.3 million and 1.4/5 in AD18-49):

At 8:00 p.m., ABC's "Last Man Standing" grew its overall audience week to week (+2%) and held even in Adults 18-49, tying 2nd-best rating since its season premiere 4 months ago - since 9/20/13.

"The Neighbors" (8:31-9:00 p.m. - 3.8 million and 0.8/3 in AD18-49):

At 8:30 p.m., "The Neighbors" was up 3% in Total Viewers from the prior week.

"Shark Tank" (9:00-10:01 p.m. - 8.2 million and 2.2/7 in AD18-49):

Shooting up 175% over its lead-in at 9:00 p.m. in Adults 18-49, ABC's "Shark Tank" dominated its hour by 47% over NBC's "Grimm" (2.2/6 vs. 1.5/5). The ABC unscripted series was also the most-watched TV show overall in the hour. Season to date, "Shark Tank" has grown 15% in Adults 18-49 over the same point last year, trending as the series' best-ever season.

"20/20" (10:01-11:00 p.m. - 8.3 million and 1.9/6 in AD18-49): ABC's "20/20" won the 10 o'clock hour for the 3rd consecutive week in Adults 18-49, beating NBC's season finale of "Dracula" by 90% (1.9/6 vs. 1.0/3). The ABC newsmagazine also ranked No. 1 in The Hour with Adults 25-54 for the 2nd straight week. "20/20" featured David Muir's report on a teacher who fell in love with a 15-year old student, as well as the return of Elizabeth Vargas after completing rehabilitation for alcohol. ABC's "20/20" once again stood as the top-rated newsmagazine of the night, outdrawing NBC's "Dateline" by 1.0 million viewers (8.3 million vs. 7.3 million) and leading by double-digits in Adults 18-49 (+36% - 1.9/6 vs. 1.4/4) and Adults 25-54 (+35% - 2.7/7 vs. 2.0/6). In fact, it was the top Friday night news program this season.

· Growing for the 2nd year in a row, "20/20" is up 19% in Total Viewers season to date and tracking to deliver its most-watched season in 4 years - since the 2009-10 season.

Sunday

"America's Funniest Home Videos" (7:00-8:00 p.m. - 7.0 million and 1.5/4 in AD18-49):

In the 7 o'clock hour, ABC's "America's Funniest Home Videos" drew its biggest audience in 7 weeks (since 12/8/13) and its 3rd-largest this season.

"The Bachelor: Sean and Catherine's Wedding" (8:00-10:01 p.m. - 6.2 million and 1.5/4 in AD18-49): Opposite big competition from CBS' "Grammy Awards" and NBC's 2014 NFL Pro Bowl from 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC's "The Bachelor: Sean and Catherine's Wedding" improved its time period week to week by 32% in Total Viewers (6.2 million vs. 4.7 million) and by 36% in Adults 18-49 (1.5/4 vs. 1.1/3). During its 2-hour broadcast, "The Bachelor" special took second to the "Grammys" in Women 18-34.

· Despite facing the "Grammy Awards," "The Bachelor: Sean and Catherine's Wedding" was up by 55% in Total Viewers and by 50% in Adults 18-49 over "The Bachelorette: Ashley and J.P.'s Wedding" a year-ago December (4.0 million and 1.0/3 on 12/16/12).
